Just a very minor issue that needs to be clarifeied, as there has been disagreement on it a few times in the first few weeks, and it could become larger as the weather warms. It concerns the dugouts and which team gets which dugout. It has been my experience that the first team at the field lays claim to a dugout and its theirs. There has been some question of this practice as I have heard that the home team gets the first base side, as a rule. It really is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but lets get it clarified so there aren't any problems going forward.
I agree 1st base should be home 3rd away. However that's not a rule across baseball because I believe Chicago does the opposite as do several other cities. I ran into that in a tournament down in Florida once
It shouldn't matter which team gets what side unless a team has a dedicated home field that they play on exclusively. The pros do it the way they do because they have clubhouses. Half the time, the first person to arrive at the field has no clue which team is home.
