Giants. 14 - Marlins 4 (no broken noses, no triple-plays - Two Big Flys)

First of all, my apologies to the Marlins for an honest bookkeeping gaffe in the fifth inning when we celebrated prematurely thinking we had a 12 run lead and the game was over - more than slightly embarrassed. Again, my apologies.

Bobby Bolt threw four terrific innings before pulling his groin muscle and gave way to Mike Kane who threw the final three innings in fine fashion.

The heavy hitters:
Mark Dabney - big fly with a couple of guys on - 2 hits
Bobby Bolt - 2 hits
Carlos Llera - two hits
Doug Reisinger - 3 hits
Ron Smaka - 2 hits
Pete Geannelis - 2 hits
Mike Kane - two hits

Giants score 9 runs in the 4th inning on a bunch of hits..........some plays were made, some weren't and I think some other stuff happened as well. Honestly, it was a lot to take in as a rookie manager. Randy Craft made a great relay throw in the same inning to cut down Wayne Phillips at the plate - catcher Mike Ferraro did a great job "sleeping" on the play and acting as if nothing was going on and then, BAM.....out at home (love that guy).

Jim McQuade made a nice sliding/diving (slidiving - new word - I just made it up.....call Merriam's) catch in left field.

Randy Craft was the shining star for the Marlins with 2 hits (one being a fence clearing drive) - dude's 58 years old and well, just keeps playing top rate ball. Good on ya, mate!

Next week: Mother's Day weekend .......Giants vs. Cougars (should be interesting - Giants might have 8 or 9 guys).

A tip of the cap to the Giants on this beautiful Sunday afternoon.

This was a classic tight contest all of the way!
Oh yeah . . . except for the 4th inning!
In that inning, the Giants pounded out 9 hits and 10 runs against two Marlins pitchers that aren't used to that kind of treatment. It was an impressive display! Wayne Phillips was the only Giant not to score in that inning, and it took an incredible relay from Maney to Craft to Ferraro to get him.

The Giants ended up with 14 runs on 18 hits and 3 walks in just 6 innings (they were the home team).
Any pitchers getting ready to face that order better be ready for a long day. There is just no where to go to get an out.

As Steve said so well, Randy Craft was the story on offense for the Marlins, with a HR and a single, and two runs scored.
Ron Lochner and Phil Gadomski both had two singles as well.

Next up for the Marlins, the Blue Jays on Saturday of Mother's Day weekend. Hopefully the real Golden Marlins will show up for that one!

You're' kinda right James. After playing 3 hockey games in 24 hours Fri and Sat I went up to Saratoga Sat night to see a lot of friends associated with the picture Corrigan posted and got juiced. The juice happened to be about a dozen pints of Guiness. Won't do that again. I better just stay on the porch with the other old dogs! Dingers or not. As you can see, your Giants put a good old fashion country whooping on us. Crafty

Guess I forgot to define "juiced.''
But, Randall, these are Steve Lounello's Giants now. I'm a former manager.
See you soon.
