Satellite Field Work

GMs
Next Saturday, April 6th is the scheduled date for doing the field upgrades at Satellite. Many hands make for light work so we need volunteers. Please forward this to you teams and ask for their help. This improvement marks a significant investment by the 45 and 55 divisions and ideally will give us two prime fields to use this year and for years to come. We are looking to assemble at 1:00PM in the parking lot at Satellite field. These are the tasks we need to perform:

1) Rebuild Home plate and mound areas

2) Turn over infield soil and spread, mix and groom Turface, then water it down.

3) Lay out, drill and set ground sleeves. Then put up outfield fence.

4) Mow hill/area behind backstop

Look for an additional reminder and possible equipment request. We will need some way to transport the bags of turface from the shed to the field area. A pick up may be too heavy if the ground is wet/soft.
Thank you,

Scott

So what do you need---a few roto tillers to turn the infield dirt over ?

Will you need a transit, string, and spikes to make sure the lines are correct ?

Wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels, tampers ?

What else ?

A bulldozer to remove the layers upon layers of loose dirt placed on a perfectrly good infield several years ago.
If you put the new mix on the old dirt, all you'll have is a better grade of dirt. Pete Geannelis might be there. If so, he's built fields before.

See you all Sunday. Can't make Saturday. Out of town.
