Cubs enter playoffs as the number 7 seed.

The Cubs played two "less than stellar" games in the final two round robin games.
Game 4 saw the Cubs give up an unprecedented 9 unearned runs in a 9-7 loss the South Atlanta Twins.
Game 5 was a Cubs victory (16-10), but also saw numerous botched plays that kept the opponent in the game until the very end.
I will leave out the details of each game because we are trying hard to forget those performances as we prepare for two double headers.

There is some really good news that came from the round robin. Even with the last two sub-par performances, the Cubs still gave up the fourth fewest runs against of the 17 teams competing in this tournament. The best news is that, though our record was 3-2, we never ran up against another team that we felt was better than us, and we have four proven playoff starters lined up for our four playoff games: Ron Massaroni, Ted Martin, Jon Martin, and Phil Gadomski. With the team scoring no less than 7 runs per game and averaging a robust 9 runs per game, the outlook for this team to go deep into the playoffs, if not all the way, is very good. If we go back to playing defense like we did in games 1-3, then we should be the team to beat! Wish us luck!

First up in round 1: The DC Mustangs and Jim Bonaparte and Joe Careccia.

I see Art's Blue Jays came one win away from the playoffs. they did beat the #2 div. Enola team which ended up the 4th seed in the playoffs. looking at their scores they were competitive , way to go guys.

Well that Dc /Cub match-up did occur. and it was close. I'm thinking Joe and Jim got some meatballs from their Albany mates. or not?!

So as i write, the Cubs play on. it gets harder at each stage now. And the playoffs also become an endurance test . they have 4 games in order to reach their goal and that's in two days. This afternoon's game is perhaps the hardest and most uneven one of them all. a fresh and higher seeded opponent. I know the Cubs from top to bottom relish the challenge . go get it. jreel

PS Attorney Hotline....hmmmm sounds familiar.
