Woo~Hoo!!! Go Cubbies! Keep us informed as you know many of us will be curious and watching the board to see if you and/or Mike do write-ups, as that'd be greatly appreciated... Hope you guys bring back the trophy and I wouldn't be at all surprised if you did! Cub-bies, Cub-bies, Cub-bies!

The perennially powerful 35 and over Cubs team will start play Monday in the Florida Classic, outside beautiful West Palm Beach.
Although we play in the over 35's here in the CDMSBL, we are all so damn old, we are entered in the 45 division. We are sending a formidable 18 man roster full of Cubbies.
We are:
Tim Brown Ralph Caputo Randy Craft Mike Ferraro Phil "Mash" Gadomski Pete Geannelis Mike Girard Andy Hoyle ( 35 Division MVP ) Ron Lochner Shawn Maney Tom Maney Jonny Martin Teddy Martin by way of Tampa Ron Massaroni Jim McQuade MGR HOF Dave Mitchell Teddy Poleto by way of California TJ Scorsone
Yeah--Not a bad looking team! The only Cubs that couldn't make the trip have extenuating circumstances:
Dan Mirabile - Just too damn young to qualify Steve Lounello - Helping to prepare and feed families for Thanksgiving Bryce Cutler - Still on his freakin honeymoon - getting more action than Hefner and Clooney combined Tom Shepardson - arguing a case in front of the Supreme Court ( so i am told) :)
We have been given a tough draw in the 17 team field, including 2010 Champion Montgomery Co. Yankees, sponsored by none other than MSBL President Steve Sigler, as well as a powerhouse team from Venezuela.
Highlight will include a Wednesday game at beautiful Roger Dean Stadium, home of the Marlins/Cardinals.
Fortunately we have resident sports reporter Mike Girard here, who, no doubt, will contribute detailed summaries of our adventures.
With 7 ring holders with you and the rest solid team guys I know you will not panic nor falter when under pressure. It might be easier because of the talent but will definitely be smoother with Jim's experience with you all, and you all with each other. Have fun take the punches and punch back harder. You have far more pitching than our past 04 semis finalist 07 quarter finalist, 08 finalist, and even 06 champions. great depth and flexibility. not to mention a batting order of "all leaguers", MVP's batting titlist and HOF'ers. Jim, I do not envy you come your game day decisions about that order! one last piece of advise above all else .....have a one ton tomato, preferably mid week. jreel
i am green with envy over not being able to make it down to the tourney with what looks like a great bunch of guys to be playin ball with for the next week. do us proud and bring back a title. if not a title,a piece of that one ton tomato. pete w whats that honey...i can go???

We had a brisk 1 hour practice this afternoon, and the excitement was palpable. This group (all have played either on the 35+ Cubbies or the 45+ Marlins) is talented and deep indeed, but more importantly, the team chemistry is it's best quality! We are closer to brothers than team mates. 18 talented ballplayers all pulling in the same direction is a powerful thing. With that said, this is also the toughest competition that we have ever faced in this tournament. It will be a very big challenge to even make the playoffs. I wouldn't bet against us though, and I certainly wouldn't want to be a pitcher facing this line-up! Stay tuned here for details. We will be starting at 9:00 am Monday morning! First up: the South Side Rays!
good luck to Art's 45+Blue Jays and to Jim Bonaparte and Joe C. playing for a 45 DC team. over 30 guys down there at the Classic. and don't forget the guys on the west coast of FLorida . We've heard updates on Bill and Brad and on Wayne . now the chicago /albany team starts up too. enjoy the warmth , sunshine and great baseball.
PS. must be well over 50 players taking advantage of fall tournaments this year. PSS southside of what?
