The 55+ Capital District team going to the Arid Zone will post as well. On the team going south is: Tom Henderson , Mike LaBarge, Jim Kisselburgh, Brad Buchan, Ed Rogers from the Americans Skip Treece, Chuck Stanley, Wayne Newcomb, John Reel , Don Burriesci, Don Wixon from the Plats Dave Forman from the Hawks Jim Farrell from the Cougars Harold Jenkins from the Cards.
We'll play 6 games in 4 days with a doubleheader this Sunday against Taos NM and the Arizona Diamondbacks. On Monday we play Fog City ( not sure where they are from ...SF?) . And then Wednesday another DH'er against the SoCal Fire and the Snowbirds ( a kind of fire and ice day ..hey?). Thursday we warp up round robin play against the Oregon Brewers.
We make the playoffs by finishing in the top 3 of this round robin or receive a wild card with the next three highest records across the 21 team 55+ division. the Playoffs are 7 inning games the round robin 9. gulp.
I've told the team our number one goal is to be tired on Thursday. with only the minimally required 14 guys ....I think we can attain that. Second , it'd be nice to be a playoff team in our first Arizona appearance. We don't know these teams like we know the Florida crowd, then again they don't know us. It'll all be new to most of us though Brad has played as a pool player; And Dave now lives in the PHX area. We didn't pick up pool players, opting to hang tight. We'll need just that to do well. Its a good crew and we'll have our fun in the sun. And keep you posted. Jreel mgr. 55+ Capital District 2012 World Series .

... that the albany teams going to arizona and florida not only win a bunch of games, but that one or more guys on the squads take time to drop those of us in the colder, baseball-done north messages here on how your teams are faring.
it's selfish, of course: reading your notes will be a way of prolonging the season for us, but the notes could be a source of amusement, too, maybe even some good laughs, if someone chronicles the funny moments that always happen at these events.
like left field at the old yankee stadium, it gets darker early here, so we could use the laughs.
I'll keep you guys informed on the progress of the Capital District Cubs at the Fall Classic from November 12th through the 17th. We will be competing in the 17 team Central Division of the 45+ Wood bat tournament.
Mike - with 992 posts and counting was there ever a doubt!
I'm just excited to see what the 1000th post does to your GRAND POOPAH status! Thought jimmy K. was going to give you a run for your money to that milestone - but he has stumbled coming to the finish!!
Really looking forward to Florida!! If everyone stays healthy I know the Cubs will have have an outstanding chance. Brother Ted just picked up his 13th win of the season yesterday in Tampa!! At the very least, the local economy, especially a certain sector, :) will prosper greatly with our appearance !!
Awesome! Good Luck to ALL of the CDMSBL teams and great idea Mike as I know I really enjoyed reading Joe Carrecia's reports from Arizona last year, and that was before I even knew him... Prolly enjoy it even more now that I know a few more guys and will look forward to it... And how cool would it be if one of the teams ~ or 2! ~ would bring back some hardware to show off!
Great idea Mike... And thank you guys who do it...

Also, Joe Careccia and I are playing with the D C Mustangs in the same division as the 45 Cubs. Hopefully we can meet them in the finals as they are in a different division . Can't wait!!
If one of us brings a laptop, we'll keep you all informed of how the Chicago Wind is doing in the Roy Hobbs 60+ tournament in Fort Myers, Fla.
Funny that we are a Chicago-based team since we have Billy Smith, Mike Lannon, Jerry Solomon, Jerry Hawkins, Mark Josefski, Skip Lyons, Brad Buchan and myself on the team.
Not sure, however, about off-the-field details. What goes on in Fort Myers stays in Fort Myers - unless, of course, it doesn't!
keep us informed, jim either with a laptop if you can rustle one up, or a good summary once you return, as you did before.
thing is, everybody's news is great publicity, too, for the tournaments. the postings will give guys ideas of how to stretch their seasons into november.
(and those ideas may appeal to their spouses or women friends, too; a mini-vacation where the women needn't watch all 4-6 games and where tours and beaches await.)
as for your team's name, albany's assist should be noted. but it's hard to combine the two names; the chi-albs, say, is puzzling and awkward.
so i think you guys should go vegetarian: call yourselves "the rutabagas."
