I'm sure most of you have heard of Equinox's Annual Thanksgiving Dinner (this is our 43rd one) - we serve over 10,000 turkey dinners to those in need throughtout the Capital District - we deliver over 9000 of those dinners within a 50 mile radius from Albany. It's a huge project and it's my job here at Equinox to make sure it doesn't get screwed up. It's also an extremely worthwhile and rewarding project that began getting organized over a month ago.
I'm putting out feelers to all divisions: On November 19th (the Monday before Thanksgiving), we could use 10 Strong Like Bull types to help move furninture down at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Albany (from 4:00ish to when it's done-ish, probably an hour or so). The furniture being moved is making room for the makeshift dining area to serve about 1500 meals. Just think - when you see the story on all three news stations, you can say - "I was part of that".
Last year, we were fortunate to have a great group of guys who volunteered: Ralph Marrero (RIP) Tony Nardacci Don Ball Mike Girard Carlos Llera Dan Miriable Mike LeBarge Tomo Maney Jimmy K Richard Lounello Jim Whitford
Also, we are in need of ANY canned foods or fresh vegtables (carrots, potatoes, squash, green beans, sweet potatoes, onions).
Price Chopper is donating all 12,750lbs of turkey, Hannaford is donating the 2500lbs of ham (we hope). We are in need of 3500lbs. of potatoes, 2500lbs. of carrots, 3200lbs. of sweet potatoes, 400lbs. of onions - yes cooking for 10,000 requires a lot of food. WE HAVE VOLUNTEERES TO PICK UP YOUR DONATIONS!!!!
Your help is GREATLY appreciated. Feel free to call me or email me if you'd like to help or to donate:
