In the first playoff game the BlueJays built a nice 5 run cushion until the BlackSox came back to cut it to 2 runs. Then in the 6th the BlueJays erupted for 5 runs which gave them a 7 run cushion. But the Blacksox wouldn't go away and even cut the lead to only 3. The BlueJay's starter Lex Herlett hung tough and struck out 2 of the next 3 hitters to preserve the win. Lex led with 3 hits followed by Artie Gianakos with 2 hits. The big blow of the game came in the big 6th inning off the bat of Dwight Partridge who had a bases clearing double to give our team some breathing room.
In the second playoff game a pitchers duel between John Weber of the BlueJays and Darryl Duncan made for an exciting playoff style game. After Pat Alston drove in 2 runs to give the BlueJays a 3-1 lead the BlueJays scored again in the 5th to take a 4-1 lead before the Dodgers chipped away to cut the BlueJays lead to 4-3.
In the 6th inning the Dodgers threatened to take the lead with the bases loaded and no outs when their batter hit a medium to deep Fly ball to left. The Dodger's runner tagged and our left fielder Dwight Partridge hit the cutoff man Paul Post who whirled and threw a perfect strike to home plate and our catcher Dave Latina made a great block of the plate to nail the runner. Just a tremendous play all around and obviously the difference in the game. A real classic playoff game by both teams.
Good Luck BlackSox and Dodgers the rest of the playoffs.
