The defending champion Columbia County Cannons will meet the regular season champs , the Frozen Ropes Outlaws , in a rematch of the last two years finals. the Outlaws are betting on the "third times the charm" adage and bring a substantial offense to battle the leagues best pitching staff. The Outlaw feature league batting titlist Quentin Jensen (.535) and the league's best team average of .332 . Co manager Jensen is backed up by co-mgr. Brendan Robert's .500 ave. with a league leading .667 OBP and walks ( 24). It doesn't stop there as team RBI leader ( 18) Carlos Maldanado , and several others batting over .350 also get the job done. Can the Outlaws handle the deep and talented Cannons' pitching staff? this line-up includes Brian Pollard, Ken Ward, Eric Joyce, JJ Pearsall and Jim Shook. The Cannons staff has combined for 148 K's , nearly one every inning; and league leading 1.50 ERA. no slouches with the wood , Manager David Ames's team has Eric Joyce, who was the runner up in the batting titlist race, and Lalo Reyes had 14 RBIs. And they can run; witness the league leading 61 Stolen bases . Jason Mavrides and Eric Wilsey combined for 27 of those. I'd say the Outlaw catcher will be as busy as the Cannon fielders. This is CDMSBL's featured and longest standing division, going back to our origins in 1990. We will crown our 23rd champ later this week. come out and see some great competition. We'll get the schedule posted on the main page as soon as we know it. Jreel pres CDMSBL.
