I just want to publicly thank Jimmy Konstant(and whatever other letters go in right here) and Donnie Dunham for helping to put together the best weekend of my life, even if I did go O-for-4 @ Doubleday!
They are 2 of the classiest guys ever and them inviting my brother and his family to be involved in the festivities was very meaningful, far beyond baseball... The entire Giants team is a bunch of classy guys (and damn Mark Dabney can hit!!!) and I also want to thank each one of them as they are all more then just damn fine ball players, but great guys...
As are my Yankee teammates too of course, but Donnie and Jim are the leaders of both group of guys and it truly made me proud to be the small part of the CDMSBL that I am as my brother was welcomed in with open arms... I mean hell, we always used to talk about Cooperstown when we were little boys and Jimmy not only set the game up for the weekend, but he and Donnie then had my little nephew throw out the first pitch and Donnie let my brother play the entire game in left field...
My brother was beaming from ear-to-ear and the entire Marshall family will always remember this event and the kindness shown to us by the CDMSBL as Jim and Donnie are both long-time Board members and AWESOME ambassadors showing what the game is all about... I can't even properly express my heartfelt gratitude as wherever I go in life, I'll just always remember this as a special part of the greatest weekend of my life and I am proud to be a member of such a wonderful organization...
It was well worth the little effort it took to organize the game, Mark.
I, too, will remember the weekend; I was proud to have been a guest at your wedding, talk with your bride and meet so many nice people, including your brother and Uncle Gary! Carolyn is awesome, too! And I got to know many of your teammates off the field. Class guys, all of you!
We drank, danced (in that order) and had a blast. Ceremony was impressive. A truly perfect weekend. Making memories is what life is all about. You, Carolyn and your daughter now have a weekend of them you'll never forget and I am just happy to have helped in any small way I could.
