Thanx to Mike Clary for the photos. Mike traveled to Doubleday Field in Cooperstown to watch Saturday afternoon's Yanks-Giants 45 Division game.
Mark Dabney went 4-for-4, including this first-inning, 3-run shot over the wall in right field to stake the Giants to a 4-0 lead.
Giants took a 10-0 lead before surrendering 7 unearned runs in the 4th inning. But that's all the Yanks would get and the Giants went on to a 13-7 victory.
Jim K. pitched one inning of shutout ball; Bob Bolt two innings; Mike Kane got no support in the 4th, but shut down the Yanks in the 5th before Steve Lounello pitched the final two to seal the win.
Mario Arduini, Ron Smaka, Paul Scutieri Mike Kane and Mike Labanowski each added two hits to the Giants' 18-hit attack, which included a run-scoring triple by Labs to highlight the Giants' 6-run second inning.
It was a great weekend in Cooperstown. It all started Friday evening when Mark Marshall and his beautiful bride Carolyn were married at the Farmers Museum. Several Yanks and this one Giant witnessed the nuptuals before the party started. Lots of dancing, a few beverages and meeting new people. It was a privilege and honor to have been a part of their very special evening. But it also may explain why the Giants won. Lots of bloodshot eyes at the field the next day - all Yankees!
