It wasn't pretty, but the Cubs prevailed over the Highlanders 6-4, in game one of their quarter final series, at Bob Moore on Wednesday night. Ron Massaroni went the distance for the Cubbies to get the win. Don't have the book, so I don't have the usual details, but The Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and led the entire game, but the lead never got bigger than 3 runs. The Highlanders had the tying runs on base when the final out came, in the top of the seventh inning. If the rain stays away, the Cubs will look to close out the series with a win tonight at Bob Moore at 6:00 pm.
Pete did a very good job for someone with very little experience in a playoff situation. He had control issues and had trouble holding runners on, but you need experience on the mound in game situations for both of those skills. I would advise him to stick with it. The more he pitches, the better he will get.
