On bright early morning the BlueJays defeated the Yankees behind the pitching of Lex Herlett and the clutch hitting of a number of BlueJays. Lex Herlett, Mike Aiello, Dwight Partridge, and Dave forman all had 2 hits and several others with at least one hit. The Yankees led pretty much from start to finish and again played outstanding defense.
In the second game for the BlueJays John Weber and Reds Joe Burns matched up in a pitchers duel and the BlueJays led 3-1 going into the sixth inning when the play of the game was made by Ron McCarthy to rob Artie Gianakos's line drive into center field with a beautiful diving catch with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs. That might have been the difference in the game as the BlueJays would have had a 4 run lead. But a nice comeback by the Reds in the 7th inning snatched a victory and a double sweep by the BlueJays.
