The Damn Yankees relied on the bottom part of the batting order for its offensive fireworks and came up with several clutch two-out hits to defeat the Americans by a score of 10-3 on Wednesday evening at New Scotland field. Joe McNally, Ray Demers, Bob Weitz, Gregg Woolston, Mike Matheson and Artie Gianakos batting 6th through 11th in the order teamed up to go 9 for-18 at the plate with three doubles and 7 RBI on the night. Weitz had a two-out RBI single in the second inning to get the Yankees on the board first and then delivered a bases-loaded gapper with two outs to clear the bases and key a 6-run rally in the fourth inning. Bill Kervan and Mike Eplite teamed up on the mound to limit the Americans to three runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out six. Kervan went five innings and allowed just two unearned runs to nail down his 7th win of the year. Brad Buchan, Ken Zimmer, Dave DeMaria, Jim Wing, Nick Kanellis, Rob Rugen and Brad Buchan all had hits for the Americans. The win boosts the Yankees record to 9-4 while the Americans fall to 7-7.
