Mon 7/2 - 55 Americans over Hawks

On a fine Monday baseball evening, the 55 Hawks met up with the Americans at New Scotland. Dave Foreman and Brad Buchan started for their squads with the Americans striking for 3 in the 1st on singles by Nick Kanellis and Rob Rugen. Then again for 8 in the 2nd on a triple by Rob Rugen, a double by Jim Wing, singles by Joe Romero, Buchan, John Vidor, Ken Zimmer and Dave Demaria. The Hawks got on the board with 2 in the 4th on singles by Tom Gleason and Mike Stammel with the Americans answering with a run in their 4th on a single by Zimmer. Again, the Hawks put up 2 in their 5th on singles by Bob Hiller, Mike Hart, Foreman and Stammel. In their last at bat in the 6th, the Americans plated 2 runs on singles by Zimmer, Kanellis and Demaria. For the Hawks, Dave Edelman relieved in the 3rd and Kevin McDonald in the 6th. Mike Larbarge relieved in the 3rd and Zimmer in the 6th for the Americans. The result was Americans 14 - Hawks 4

The game was marred by Glenn Rugen breaking his wrist landing awkwardly on it while going for what would've been an outstanding shoestring catch in LF. Glenn was a standout in the league back in the 90's and was having an outstanding return to the game this year at the plate and in the field. The Americans will sorely miss him. Good luck on healing Glenn and we'll be thinking of ya.
