The 55 Americans and Gray Cougars met Friday evening, the 17th, at New Scotland with just great weather for a game after several days of rain outs. Jimmy Kisselburgh and Frank Montagano started for their squads with the Americans striking in the 1st for several runs on a double by Jim Wing, singles by Mike Labarge, Ken Zimmer, Rob Rugen, and Brad Buchan. They kept up the scoring in the 3rd with a double by Glenn Rugen, singles by Wing, Tom Henderson, Joe Romero and John Vidor - then scoring in the 4th on singles by R. Rugen, Buchan and John Hayden and again in the 5th on singles by Labarge, Dave Demaria, Nick Kanellis, R. Rugen, Wing and Henderson. Montagano struck out 5 before giving way to Juan George and Bob Lipkin to finish. Kisselburgh went the distance in 5 innings of play striking out 9 while giving up no hits and no runs . The Americans go to to 3-1 and Gray Cougars to 0-3.
Yes, great job by my good buddy Jim "Bulldog" Kisselburgh, Brad, and the entire Americans team. These guys are good--you make a good pitch and they still get enough of the bat on the ball to get it over the infield!
