Just wanted to drop a note and say thank you to everyone (teammates and opponents alike) who have put up with me off and on over the last twenty or so years.
My legendary knees have deteriorated to a bone-on-bone situation and I'm going in next week to have a total knee replacement (with the other to follow in the near future)- I'll be nothing without my wheels so I guess I'm finished . . .
Thanks for the memories- Sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico from the hot tub . . . 4 games in one day in Arizona . . . Cooperstown in the fall . . . post game Coors Light @ New Scotland . . . finally winning a title in '07 . . . etc. etc.
Thanks again to everyone who made playing such a pleasure . . .

paul - i echo the other guys - i do hope you return (consider "water jogging" for your rehab; easy to do, lots of good out of it; google it) and know you've left me with a memory of one of the greatest plays i ever saw in the league: a stabbing catch to your right, falling down, and, from your backside, throwing the runner out at first. great play yet typical of you. heal and come back.

You proved forever that knees are so over-rated. You don't need no stinking knees! We'll see you on the field with your new polished ones. Here's to a speedy return..
Glad to hear you're getting new knees, but sad to hear you'll be out for the year. You're a hitting machine, and you make a better throw from third sitting down than I do from short standing up. A great teammate, and a classy guy. Good luck with your surgery my friend.
Paul good luck with the surgery. I also expect to see you on the field next year. You are one of the few guys that could fall out of bed and still get a hit when needed. Was a pleasure playing with you the last couple of years.
Hey Paul, After you rehab from your knee replacements that's when I feel I have given you a fair chance to race me! Good Luck with the surgery. I'll be keeping a close eye to see how you do because I'm next.
No retirement for you! As you personal radiologist, I will bet we will see you on the "fields of dreams" in 2013. Ok, so it's the Voorheesville satellite and town of new Scotland fields. Your TKRs will make you a speed demon once again. Finally, you will beat Artie to first base! Good luck in rehab
Good Luck on the procedure. We will see out there again. It's too much fun not to be there and you know it. You can't leave it to Don W and myself to try to keep Wayne in line.
Not so fast!!! After your repaired, take a season off, rehab, see how it goes. You have some of the softest hands in the league, and anything near you, you came up with, and made some plays flat on your back, and throwing the runner out. Plus you were a force at the plate, a tough out. Most importantly, you were a tremendous teammate/mgr. as a Yankee, and led us to a league championship in the 47's. You have a big heart, and thanks so much for your thoughfulness when I had my brief setback, that meant a lot to me. We're still waiting for that match race with you and ARTIE!!! Stay in touch buddy, see you back out there!!!
