Great job last night by our Banquet committee as we all enjoyed an outstanding event. Thanks to Don Ball, Mike Hart and Tommy Smith among others for all their hard work. Don was excellent as the MC and his jokes had us all in stitches. Mike gave a touching speech in presenting the Jim Jordan award to Ralph Marreros widow and Tommy raised a nice amount of money for the league with the 50/50 raffle. The highlight of the night was certainly the well-deserved induction of Ralph Caputo to the leagues Hall of Fame! Thanks again to the league for this great event and Congrats again to Ralph Caputo!
Outstanding event! I wish we would have had more 35+ Dodgers present for the honoring of Ralph Marrero! Class acts: Ryan Johnson, JJ Pearsall, Micky Novac, and Bobby Bolt were present. The empty table and a half stuck out like a sore thumb. Don Ball's opening monologue was hilarious! The food was great and the free beer flowed to past midnight! A great time was had by all. We all appreciate the efforts to put on such a fine event! Thanks!!!
Well, not to have toooo long of a rambling, incoherent post, butttt...
Jim, Joe, and Mike are spot on ~ Donnie Ball was not just an absolute hoot, but the night of course belonged to the 2 Ralph's (Marreo and Caputo)... Being a relative newcomer, it was nice to hear a little bit more about the two guys from a different perspective other then just what I have seen on the field... They both deserved their honor(s) and quite honestly, I felt privileged to even be included in their night...
Hell, the only thing is I didn't know it was such a fancy shin-dig, otherwise I might've worn my best cowboy boots and Stetson... Maybe next time as this was my first one and now I know what to expect...
The committee did one helluva good job as it was definitely a fun night... Thanks to Donnie, Mike, Tommy, and anyone else behind the scenes I may not know about ~ you guys are awesome...
Now if you could only help me get thru the 4th grade w/out starting another War of Northern Aggression against us southerners, that'd be nice too!
Jus sayin...

Not that this needs to be expalined, but i know 1 Dodger (also a class act)wasn't there because his mother is in the hospital gravely Ill. The others might very well have good reasons for not attending also, then again, thats their business. As for the 45 Reds, we were lightly represented because most guys couldn't make it. In case anybody asks.
After a few days of digesting, just wanted to thank all that was involved in making this banquet a rewarding and fabulous night for me and Susie. Artie was chosen by me as my presenter, and he didn't dissapoint. He was Artie.
I think the line of the night was from Martina when after the speech she said "Does he even know you?" I was a bit emotional when I learned of this induction, and I have to admit a bit nervous about giving a speech, however when I was thanking you'all for being my friends in this great league, it came with great ease.
Ralph - wish i could have been there but i was in florida .... congrats again on your induction and i'm looking forward to turning a few double plays with you this year
