the national office has a medical plan, but we can guess how expensive that is--how about league doctors, paid for by the league, to treat players who have no medical insurance?--sure, this could be used and abused, but there are players who have no insurance, and if, for example, a coach finds out a player has no insurance, but really should see a doctor---seems to me the league has funds available, and might be able to budget a few hundred dollars or more, especially for the older divisions, where guys may be too old to work, but too young for medicare--information should be confidential---a related issue, perhaps, is the need for a steroids and HGH policy--who knows how many players (not to mention umps) might have adverse medical conditions as a result of performance enhancing substances?
