Bad news: We lost to Team Florida, 15-8, ending the Round Robin 2-2.
Good news: We never gave up. Team Florida took an 8-0 lead, then led 10-2 after 5. Led by the Albany contingent, Chicago once again mounted a comeback with a 5-spot in the 6th. Mike Lannon and Jim Konstantakis led off the inning with sharp singles to center. Bill Smith lined a one-out single to center to plate Lannon and the National Wind began the comeback. With two outs, Jerry Solomon singled to center and before was all said and done, Chicago cut the deficit to 10-7.
But the bugaboo that has haunted Chicago once again surfaced. Lack of pitching depth. With Solomon and JimK resting their arms after throwing on back-to-back days, Team Florida whacked our relievers around and sent us to a seeding game on Thursday.
We play a team that is also 2-2 and that has given up as many runs as we have. After the day of seeding games, all teams get reseeded and the playoffs will start Friday with a DH. It is likely we will drop to the 3A playoffs, so chances for a 4A title are all but over.
Lannon led the National Wind with 3 hits. Solomon had 2. Smith had a single and JimK a single and walk.
