Game 2 from Fort Myers ...


The Albany contingent helped Chicago overcome an early 6-0 deficit and lead the Wind to a 17-8 victory over the Ohio Classics in evening their record at
1-1 in the 60+ Division of the Roy Hobbs World Series in Fort Myers, Fla.

Game 3 at 10 a.m. Tues. in the 4A bracket against the New England Sox with JimK on the hill.

Jerry Solomon keyed the night-game victory at Terry Park Stadium, coming out of the bullpen in the 6th inning and shutting down the power-hitting Classics the rest of the way. He also singled twice and doubled.

Jerry Hawkins added two singles and got the Wind on the Board in the third with a 2-run single. In the fourth, Solomon led off with a single. After a double to the gap in right-center, Jim Konstantakis smacked a one-out single to left to make it 6-3. Mike Lannon then followed with an RBI single to center. After two outs,, Hawkins gave the Wind a 7-6 lead with a bullet to the gap in left-center and the Wind would ultimately come up with a 7-spot for a 9-6 lead after 4.

Ohio, which won its opener 22-6 Sunday, answered with two in the top of the 5th to cut the deficit to 9-8, but the Wind answered with 4 more with Solomon, Bill Smith and Lannon each contributing RBI singles.

Ohio then began the home 6th with two sharp singles and Solomon was summoned from the pen. He got out of the inning and went on to stop the Classics the rest of the way.
