I want to thank those who voted for me, it feels great to have this award, but this award also goes to Mick Novak who is my Co- Manager. As much as I expressed to put Mick's name along my name on our web, it was always forgotten. So a BIG thanks to MICK for his help. And Congrats to all who made the ALL DISIVISON, AND OF COURSE TO JJ PEARSALL WHO WON THE BIG JONES AWARD AS WELL AS MVP. IT FEELS GOOD TO BE A DODGER AND PART OF THE CDMSBL. SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR...

congrats on the award Ralph. And to JJ on his. Its named after Bill Jones. Bill was a great pitcher. but maybe more so a respected competitor. He helped form the league and was a constant volunteer. He served as the league's secretary. If he struck you out he smoothly went on to the next out; if per chance you got a hit he tipped his cap to you. (he didn't have to do that a lot.) He died at age 41 and was elected to our HOF. A shoe -in. We later had his family at a game with his old team and named the top pitcher award for him. Bill , a Baptist minister , lived for God and played the game in that light. May all who our honored by this award also know the other side of it. that the ERA and K's are big but the man is bigger. Thank you John R. I never new the story of who Bil Jones was. Thank you for sharing that with me and anyothers who might have wondered who he was and why this great award has been named after him. Hope those that have won it and will in the furtre will know what a GREAT HONOR IT IS TO RECIEVE IT.
I just wanted to add a little bit more about Bill Jones. I caught Billy for four years at Columbia High and I never met a more competitive pitcher on the mound, but also I never met a better teammate who would do anything for the team. He was extremely funny and made a point to get along with everyone. I wish Billy were still playing and I know he would throw that nasty curve in the dirt and give me a wink. Jim Wing
