... check out the 45 Division standings; scoreboard watchers take notice:
With just two games remaining in the regular season, the Marlins sit alone at the top with a record of 11-1. (They have 4 to play, so makeup games will need to be bunched in).
But then FOUR teams sit tied for 2nd with 10-4 records. The Reds and Giants are two of the teams and they clash at 11:45 Sunday at New Scotland. The Reds won the previous meeting, 3-2.
The Black Sox and Blue Thunder are the other two teams at 10-4 and they square off at 11:45 Sunday at Voorheesville High School. The Black Sox outslugged the Thunder 10-9 in their previous meeting.
Meanwhile, the Marlins face the Yankees at 5 p.m. at New Scotland. The Yankees are 7-6 and one of seven teams with a winning record in the division and battling the 7-6 Blue Jays for the No. 6 seed for the playoffs, though, depending on the outcome of the other games, either can seed as high as 4th before all is said and done.
to further the conversation, if the Thunder win their last 2, vs the Blue Jays and Black Sox, they have the no. 2 seed, having the tie breakers over the Reds and Giants, via head to head matchups. The Thunder Black Sox game on the last weekend looks to be key.
It looks very much like the impending hurricane will wipe out the schedule on Sunday. What then? Maybe we play the final week after the Labor Day tournament??? There are other make-ups that also need to get scheduled. We only were scheduled for 16 games this year and I believe that we should get our money's worth by getting them ALL played.
I am working on a make-up schedule to accomplish a 16 game schedule. As always this plan would entail a plan B and even a Plan C. players and managers please be aware games could be played without your ideal teams available. And at some point we'll just have to start the playoffs which have some flexibility built-in. I will consulting with mgr.s and fields very soon so stayed tuned. jreel 45 comm.
