YANKEES 13 HORNETS 5
(Preview)
In a game played Monday the Yankees prevailed over a gutsy Hornet team. The score is not indicative how close the game was until the sixth inning when the score was 7-5. The Yankees scored 5 runs to break the game open and another run in the 7th. The Hornets had a tough break early in the game losing Ron Smak...

Giants 8, Pirates 7
(Preview)
Giants led 7-1 before the Pirates rallied with 2 in the 4th and 4 in the 6th to tie it.
Lounello and Comenski each hit doubles (would have both been HRs in many fields with fences) to drive in the tying runs.
The Giants squeezed out the winning run in the 7th. Rodney Smith reached on an error to start t...

Blue Jays 7 Reds 2
(Preview)
The Reds pieced together a team on Sunday with some borrowed players whom I might add did a great job. Thanks. It seems that with all the rain (we need some excuse) the Reds forgot how to hit. 5 scattered hits are not going to win games but give credit where credit is due, Shean (sorry do not know first name)...

Blue Thunder 7 Veterans 6
(Preview)
After too many rain cancellations over the course of spring, Blue Thunder finally got their second game of the season under their belts – and what a game it was. Behind the four hit pitching of Rich Garbarino (making his season debut) the Thunder walked away with a 7-6 squeaker of a win. With any sport, i...

July 4 tournaments
(Preview)
CDMSBL is attempting to organize two teams for July 4 tournaments.
Portland, Maine - 38+ division (June 30 - July 2)
This is a wood-bat only tournament. We've participated in the tournament (I think) the past eight years. Three game format with playoffs. Eight teams in the division. While you...

6/11 Vets split DH
(Preview)
The Vets played an exciting game with Blue Thunder, but couldn't quite come back from a 7-0 deficit. Vets put forth a galant effort in the last inning, coming up with 5 runs, but fell short. Final score was Thunder 7, Vets 6. ( by the way, I gave out my score book to our statictcian so I can't remember names....

Elm Avenue Cleanup
(Preview)
A small but merry band of Pirates will be at Elm Avenue Park in Bethlehem this Sunday at 10:00 working on the field.
Right now, it is basically submerged and were looking to give Mother Nature a helping hand by moving some of that standing water out of there. At which point the sun can get to it and do it...

Pirates 6 - Highlanders 0
(Preview)
The Pirates used outstanding pitching and some timely hitting to defeat the Highlanders at CBA on June 9. In what is probably a record so far this season, the Highlanders played games on back-to-back days.

Orioles 7 Silver Marlins 2
(Preview)
In a rematch of last year's championship series the Orioles defeated the Silver Marlins at a very swampy Bethlehem Town Park.
Field conditions were horrible but the two teams were determined to get this one in given the fact that games have been rained out at such an alarming rate.

My Bad
(Preview)
Imagine my chagrin when it was pointed out to me by teammate Ron Smaka that all this rain was my fault. Well, in a roundabout way. The real culprit here is Jim Jordan. Ron theorizes that Jim is angry when he looks down at the Pirates lineup and sees that he's not pencilled in at shortstop. Thus, storm cloud...

marlins 6 Veterans 4
(Preview)
This was one of those well played games you were glad to play. The marlins jumped off to a 3 run lead in the first, then added one more in the fourth. The vets came back and tied it in the fourth. There it stayed until the 7th. The marlins picked up a couple in the top of the inning, and held on. Dennis S put forth...
